Word Counter & Text Analyzer

This tool will analyze your copy, essay, or other text for word usage & frequency, as well as recurring sequences of words and other measures. Specifically, it will report the following: Total word count. List of all words used, and their number of occurrences, both total & at the beginning and ends of sentences. Total estimated sentence count, as well as the min, average, and max sentence length. Punctuation usage info. List of recurring sequences of words. List of consecutively repeating words.

• Determining where sentences end and new sentences begin is tricky, so only an estimated number of sentences is reported. Items such as abbreviations with periods after them, footnote tags, specially formated items such as numbered lists, etc, can cause inaccurate sentence counts. • Special characters, such as multi-byte unicode characters, may cause inaccurate results. For example, the apostrophes and quotation marks displayed in some websites are special unicode characters which cannot be read properly by this utility.
• Numbers and punctuation are omitted from word sequence comparison and repeated words determination, so the phrases "received, 3 pallets" and "received pallets" in the text would result in the word sequence "received pallets" being reported as occurring twice.
• The text to be analyzed can be entered in the text box below, or uploaded as a plain text file. There is a 5 megabyte file size limit.
• Text longer than approximately 50K words may result in the connection getting timed out before processing is complete.
• Results will appear at the bottom of this page.
